A kid scratches another kid with a sharp pencil. When I was at school, that would've meant a stern talking-to, possibly demerit points, maybe a note home to my parents. In New York? The scratcher was:
suspended from school and charged with felony attempted assault and misdemeanor criminal possession of a weapon
Seriously.
